What this site is for

This is patient education about horizontal lines across the forehead, published by Chongqing West District Hospital, a tertiary general hospital in Jiulongpo District, Chongqing. It is a concern guide rather than a procedure page: it answers why the lines are there, whether they need treatment, and which of several paths applies. The injections and operations themselves, and the anatomy they work on, are explained on the facial hub, on the wrinkle-injection page and on the forehead-lift page, and repeating them here would help nobody.

The distinction the site is built on

The frontalis is a brow-lifting muscle before it is a line-making one. Its fibres run vertically, so contracting it folds the skin across, and the same contraction raises the brow. Anything that reduces its pull therefore does two things at once: it softens the lines and it lowers the brow. That second effect is not a complication of treatment; it is the same action seen from the other side, and it is the reason the brow position is measured at rest before any plan is made rather than compared after it.

The second distinction: movement and skin

A line that has gone when the face is still has not yet moved into the skin, and a muscle rung can address it. A line that is still visible at rest has a component in the dermis that no amount of relaxing the muscle will remove, and it needs a rung that acts on skin. The two are not in competition and they are not interchangeable, and a plan that names only one of them will leave half of the problem where it was.

What it deliberately does not do

It does not name products or brands, quote prices or dosages, or promise a result. It does not describe injection technique or surgical technique, because that belongs to the pages that cover them. It does not present a cream or a device as a substitute for treating a brow that has genuinely descended, and it does not treat a one-sided brow drop, a forehead that has stopped moving, a new lump, or a non-healing spot as an appearance problem at any point.

The limits of a website

Nothing here can tell you how much of your own line is movement and how much is skin, and nothing here can tell you where your brow sits when the frontalis is not working. Both require a face in the room, light from a known direction and a clinician to read what the muscle does when it is asked to relax. Use this site to arrive at an assessment with better questions, and treat any answer you receive here as general information rather than as advice about you.
